| Electrolytically generated
hypochlorite solution is used in several applications requiring a low-cost, non-hazardous
and powerful biocide or oxidizing agent. The
raw materials and energy needed for the electrolysis process are: salt dissolved in water
and direct current electricity. The most common readymade solution is seawater; when that
source of inexpensive salt is not available or suitable for the desired quality of the
product, artificial brine is prepared using solid salt and tap water. |
The concentration levels obtainable with the electrolytic process are
comparatively low; this makes it economic and practical that the hypochlorite solution be
used on-site, that is, within pumping distance from the production plant.

De Nora Permelec S.P.A. engineers and supplies
worldwide a complete line of SEACLORŪ systems for the generation of hypochlorite solution
from seawater and SEACLORŪ systems for the generation of hypochlorite from brine.
SEACLORŪ and SEACLOR MACŪ systems systems are available as standard or custom-made
systems to meet all Client's demands.
Standard SEACLORŪ systems Systems using seawater have capacities in the range of 1 to
100 Kg/h available chlorine; custom-made systems can be supplied for unit capacities up to
480 Kg/h* |
Standard SEACLOR MACŪSystems using brine have capacities in the range of 3 Kg/h to 18
Kg/h available chlorine; systems of capacity outside that range are custom-made.
Because of their reliability, low operating cost and durability under
severe site conditions, SEACLORŪ Systems are used throughout the world; at present, they
are installed in more than 150 locations and have an aggregate production capacity in
excess of 360,000 Kg/day.
| () The top-of-tbe-line, 480 Kg/h SEACLORŪ are by far the largest systems ever supplied by any maker, six of
them, installed at a large power plant, are functioning efficiently after a service life
of more than ten years. |
